If you live in South Orange County, you have probably seen a JRT Roofing and Waterproofing sign at a remodel or business near you. After 16 years of construction and roofing experience, I took the leap to start my own business and it has really taken off. I now have over 40 employees and subcontractors and we are doing over 250 projects per year, from small residential projects to massive developments.

As the only child of a single mother, I never imagined this life for myself. But my mom worked tirelessly to provide for us and she found the Boys & Girls Club of the South Coast Area to give me consistent, nurturing adult mentors to help me make good decisions when I would rather make fun ones. My mom says Boys & Girls Club saved our lives, and I completely agree. Without it, I would have been a latchkey kid from an early age, and I know I would have made some bad decisions that could have really derailed my journey to where I am now. Your support of the Boys & Girls Club gives youth like me reliable, safe engaging care while parents provide for their families. Your generosity gives kids the support they need to make good choices.

That is why I am so proud to be on the Board of Directors at the Boys & Girls Club, and even more proud of the addition of a Workforce Readiness Program to the Mark Schmitt College Bound Program. Now, with your gift today, every teen in our community can benefit from this program and the Club's many resources, whether they are interested in college or not.

Your support of the workforce readiness program helps teens in ninth through 12th grade to explore career options and trades while developing skills to stand out and succeed in the workforce. In partnership with local businesses, teens can see first-hand what it is like to work in an industry of interest. Eventually this program will even place teens in internships and apprenticeships, helping young people in our community to find gainful employment that will help them to Build Great Futures.
