The Boys & Girls Club of the South Coast Area’s “Be Great: Graduate” promotes higher education and encourages academic excellence for high school students. This new program was developed in response to the increasing number of teenage drop outs in our nation. The dropout rate in America has reached epidemic proportion and the consequences are tragic.
The Be Great: Graduate program is conducted by two full-time Boys and Girls Club of the South Coast Area staff members. The emphasis of the program is the necessity of becoming educated and most importantly graduating from high school. Attention will be brought to the importance of school attendance, getting good grades, and excelling each year’s standardized test.
Be Great: Graduate assists fifteen deserving teens, who are at risk of dropping out and/or need educational assistance. Some highlights of the assistance is providing one-on-one tutoring, hour long meetings three to four times per week, and direct communication with counselors at San Clemente High School & AVID Coordinators. Lastly, we work closely with parents and tutors. Indeed, these partnerships create a stronger impact and better the outcomes of this program.
